What components do recruiters/employers like to see in digital portfolios? Do you recommend putting your resume or just presenting your work?

Are there good resources for students to create that visual representation of their brand? Many students use canva, but if everyone is using it, it is less distinctive. Are there tips you have for making those creative choices (e.g. color, design, etc).

Does it look bad to use class assignments in a portfolio? My strength is in writing, but I don't have professional work to show.

What are the steps to making a website as great as Sams?

Aside from having a website, are there some deviations from that that stand out? More specifically I mean, suppose I am writing a personal lifestyle blog because I enjoy creative writing. Is that appropriate to include on my linkedIn profile, and is that sufficient enough to use as a website”?

I mentioned this in an earlier session, but wanted to repeat that Dr. Goodier is a great resource with regard to internships (she’s our departmental internship coordinator) and in helping students with portfolio strategy and content, so seek her out, and she’ll be a great help for you!

Having taught both Julia and Aaron when they were COMM majors at CofC, it’s wonderful to see how they have flourished career-wise since leaving the College.

Look how that horrible experience turned into something great EVENTUALLY! ;-) Thanks for letting our students learn from you, Julia!
